DAILY GRACE DEVOTIONAL BY EVANG UBONG IFIOK

FRIDAY, APRIL 3RD
THE OLD RUGGED CROSS
Scripture Reading
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness…”
— 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)
Message
The cross of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith. It is at the cross that the greatest exchange took place—Jesus took our sins, our pain, and our condemnation, and gave us His righteousness, peace, and life.
The “old rugged cross” represents sacrifice, love, and victory. What looked like defeat was actually the greatest triumph. Through the cross, sin was defeated, the power of darkness was broken, and a new life was made available to all who believe.
When you look at the cross, you are reminded of God’s unconditional love for you. Jesus willingly gave Himself so that you could be free. You are no longer bound by your past because the cross has settled it.
The cross is not just a symbol—it is a reality that affects your daily life. Because of what Jesus did, you can live in righteousness, walk in freedom, and enjoy a relationship with God.
Never take the cross for granted. Let it be a constant reminder of who you are in Christ and what has been made available to you. Live in the victory that the cross has already secured.
Confession
I live in the victory of the cross.

The power of the cross is at work in me daily, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
