Title: Wisdom and Instruction

Scripture:
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV)

Message:
Wisdom and instruction are essential for navigating life according to God’s will. Proverbs 9:10 establishes that the foundation of true wisdom is the fear of the Lord. This reverential awe and respect for God is the starting point for gaining deeper understanding and making sound decisions.

Understanding wisdom begins with recognizing that it is a divine gift. James 1:5 assures us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Wisdom is not merely a product of human effort or intellect but is generously provided by God to those who earnestly seek it. It involves discerning the right course of action in various situations and aligning our choices with God’s principles.

Instruction in the Bible often involves guidance and teaching that helps us live according to God’s standards. Proverbs 4:7 states, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Instruction through God’s Word equips us to make wise decisions and live righteously. It also helps us understand God’s will and apply it in our daily lives.

Living a life guided by wisdom and instruction requires intentionality. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Trusting in God’s guidance rather than relying solely on our own understanding ensures that we walk in His ways and receive His direction.

The fear of the Lord involves a relationship characterized by reverence and respect for God. It means acknowledging His authority and allowing His principles to shape our thoughts and actions. This fear leads to wisdom that guides us in making choices that honor God and reflect His character.

In seeking wisdom, it is crucial to immerse ourselves in God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The Bible provides divine instruction that illuminates our way and helps us navigate life’s complexities with clarity. By regularly reading and meditating on Scripture, we gain insight and guidance that align with God’s truth.

Instruction also comes through the counsel of wise and godly mentors. Proverbs 15:22 highlights, “Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors, they are established.” Seeking advice from those who are spiritually mature and experienced can provide valuable perspectives and reinforce the wisdom we receive from God’s Word.

As you seek wisdom and instruction, commit to prayer and reflection, asking God for clarity and understanding. Allow His Word to shape your decisions and trust His guidance in every aspect of your life. By doing so, you honor Him and walk in the path of righteousness and peace.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the gift of wisdom and instruction. Help me to fear You with reverence and respect, and to seek Your guidance in all areas of my life. Illuminate my path with Your Word and surround me with wise counsel. May Your wisdom guide my decisions and actions, and may I live in accordance with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
