Laying Down Your Burdens
Scripture:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Message:
The burdens of life can often leave us feeling weary, drained, and without hope. Responsibilities at work, family struggles, health challenges, or the weight of unfulfilled expectations can pile up, causing us to lose our peace. But in the midst of this, Jesus extends a loving invitation: “Come to me.”
Jesus is not just offering rest from physical exhaustion; He’s offering deep, soul-refreshing rest. This rest comes from trusting Him with every burden, knowing that He is strong enough to carry what we cannot. Laying down your burdens at His feet is an act of faith. It is acknowledging that you cannot do it all on your own and allowing Him to take over.
When you surrender your worries to Him, He exchanges your heaviness for His peace, your anxiety for His comfort, and your weakness for His strength. Trust in His promise. He will never leave you to carry life’s weight alone.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I come to You today with my burdens, both seen and unseen. I lay them at Your feet, trusting in Your strength and love. Grant me the rest and peace only You can give, and teach me to walk daily in the assurance of Your care. Amen.
